A Rolling Fire Door for Every Occasion

The Cookson Company, Inc. offers two types of fire door systems to meet the requirements of any fire door opening.

Auto-Test™ Fire Door Systems
Available in motor, chain, or crank operation, Cookson Auto-Test Fire Door Systems reset automatically after being tested or actuated by smoke detectors or building alarm systems. During activation, the door closes at a safe, controlled, automatic closing speed not to exceed 12” per second and without releasing spring tension. Once the alarm has been cleared, the fire door is ready for operation. Auto-Test Fire Door Systems eliminate the need for a trained technician to test and reset the fire door, thus reducing testing and operating costs. Our UL approval allows Cookson to retrofit Auto-Test Motor, Chain, and Crank operators to most manufacturers’ existing fire doors while maintaining the doors listing agency ratings.

Simple-Test™ Fire Door Systems
Available in motor, chain, or crank operation, this group of fire doors is activated by a fusible link. Simple-Test Fire Doors will not automatically close upon power failure. These economical fire rated doors close on activation without releasing spring tension and can be reset by reconnecting the fuselink. The optional floor level test device allows for safe and convenient testing and resetting from the floor level rather than by the fuselink above the coil for chain and crank operated doors. Our UL approval allows Cookson to retrofit Simple-Test Chain and Crank operators to most manufacturers’ existing fire doors while maintaining the doors listing agency ratings.

Application

When the fire door must be tested once a year.

Door is not built into walls and ceilings.

Opening is not a pedestrian thoroughfare.

Connection to Central Alarm System or Local Smoke Detectors is not required by local building officials.

Applications where the installation of fusible links, turnbuckles, chains and eyebolts to the face of both sides of the wall above the opening will not detract from the intended aesthetics.

When the fire door must be tested more than once a year.

Door is built into walls or ceiling.

Higher concentration of general public in the area.

Connection to Central Alarm System or Local Smoke Detectors is required by local building officials.

Applications where the installation of fusible links, turnbuckles, chains and eyebolts to the face of both sides of the wall above the opening will detract from the intended aesthetics.

Rate of descent upon activation is not to exceed 12” per second for chain and crank operation. Average closing speed of 6-24” per second for motor operation.

Requires no special training to properly test and reset.

Most reliable closing system.

Rate of descent upon activation is not to exceed 9” per second for motor operation and not to exceed 12” per second for chain and crank operation.
